Mini’s midweek memories

#week4

Yay iv’e actually managed to post this Mid-week i think that deserves a high five!

This week we cracked out the paint again, i’m quite ashamed to say we paint very rarely . I keep forgetting about it and then sometimes it seems too messy now shes bigger and takes off at zero given notice towards furniture etc. Also we currently have carpet in most rooms, yes I hate hate hate the carpets but still I don’t want little hand prints over them. (Though it would look cute).

I set up  a roll of paper in the kitchen on the floor, on top  of easy wipe childrens tablecloth. Mini wore an old baby grow and we put 3 splodges of paint down and off she set.  She had a ball of a time! I was hoping to do some Christmasey colours but we only have currently 3 paints green, purple and yellow. Now your going to tell me if id mixed them I could have got x number of other colours.. too complicated for my frazzled brain .. ( remember its week 4 of solo parenting).

2013-11-26 17.15.09The end picture is really summery colours, we are going to put up in her room on her little doodle wall once its dry.

I put her in a 6-9months baby grow to do this as it is too small for day to day use and I was going to wash it to put into a charity shop after (the paints are waterbased easy washed off). When I looked at the babygrow afterwards though its so cute all brightly coloured paint splats, so like the little sad sentimental mummy that I am i’m keeping it. It is going into her memory box with a few little pictures of her painting and her final masterpiece.

I’m planning some more  Christmasy crafts with her over the coming weeks keep ur eyes peeled!

Mini’s mid-week memories #2

Frosty Forts #week2

So its week 2 of mini’s mid-week memories post and although I took these pics at the weekend I thought I’d pop it in semi-midweek 🙂 .

Our weekends are more precious than ever now that Hubby is working away from home mon-fri. So this weekend we decided we would head to a local forest and fort for a wintery walk. Mini loves being outside and we have been to the local park and round the country roads so much recently we thought it would be nice for her and us to go somewhere we hadn’t been before.

We decided to go to Hillsborough as we knew there was a lovely forest and a fort but neither of us had been before. It was a really frosty crisp morning, blue skies but freezing cold! All of us well wrapped up, hats, boots mittens all that jazz and off we set.

The fort was built in 1650 by Colonel Arthur Hill and revamped in 1800 for any of you interested in a little history. The fort itself is like a tiny castle, with a gorgeous tower gate house. Mini has never seen a real castle before though to be honest from her expression she couldn’t have cared less if she ever see’s another one again! Aw well I loved it, hubby was less than impressed by my three suggestions: 1- we build a house like it or 2- he builds Mini a playhouse like it or 3- both of the above ! Yes I have total delusions of grandeur. Always have had, I think I should have been born about 100 years ago and had a title and lived in a grand house with a big estate… ha! I get that from my mum, we both love stately homes and all that goes with these. Yes I know we are slightly weird okay a lot weird.

Anyhow the actual walk was lovely too. The forest is gorgeous, great paths that for once were very buggy friendly hardly a pothole in sight, high five! There are a few routes both long and short it, we took long route as we had the dog with us and had enough time to dander about as long as we pleased. Mini had a good nose around her and had a giggle when the gorgeous autumn leaves all started falling off the trees into the pram and all over her and her bff bunny.

There is a gorgeous lake with ducks and swans, if you’ve read my blog before you probably noticed we love ducks and swans so this was a huge hit with Mini. We forgot bread to feed them, instead Mini shouted “hiya” and waved at them, too cute!

Helping Nannie

#1

We sometimes call “A” a range of different nicknames including “Mini” followed by our surname so i’m going to do a simple post every once in a whilst called “mini’s midweek  memories”. Kind of the same idea as some current linky’s just a simple normal everyday snap with a little tiny post, capturing just a mini-moment midweek 🙂 here we go..

My mum is the most amazing woman there is, shes such a loving kind fabulous person and my best friend. She adores “A” and we spend as much time with her as we can, however we live 80 miles away from my parents so “A” mainly see’s them at weekends. “A” loves nothing better than spending time with Nannie, she loves watching whats going on and attempting to help out (as much as a little one can). This time she was helping wreck sorry rearrange nannies kitchen cupboards.  She sat  cross legged beside my mum for a good 15 mins just playing with a few cartons and lids.  Little amuses the innocent.
